About new wave surf schoolNew Wave was set up in 2007 by Donald Peace.
Donald is an avid surfer and when he's not teaching others to surf, he's surfing himself! His love of surfing began one afternoon when he was supposed to be going for a Skate with some friends, but instead of the Skatepark, they headed to the beach for a surf. Even though Donald couldn't swim, or even float well at the time, he jumped in at the deep end and caught his first wave. From that point on, Donald realised that surfing was what he was meant to do. He learnt to swim at the local leisure centre, gave up his nicely paid job, and then he travelled to Cornwall and achieved his Surfing Instructor qualification and Beach Lifeguard qualification. He then started up his own surf school based in Morayshire. Since then, Donald has been helping people from all over the UK to feel the same magic as he did - the magic of CATCHING A WAVE! |
New Wave Surf School Support Team
Hayden Peace: Surf Coach & Surf Hut CrewHayden is Donald's eldest Son, who was practically raised at the beach! He is now a city boy, living predominantly in Glasgow, but he comes back home to Lossie to help out with Surf and Surf Skate lessons over the Summer Holidays. When he's not working, he's usually to be found on a stage somewhere, playing guitar with his band 'The Zebecks'. Yes, we're maybe a bit biased about how great they are, but you should check them out for yourself by clicking the button below!
Oli Peace: Assistant Surf Coach & Surf Hut CrewOli is Donald's youngest Son. He assists on Surf Lessons and is part of the Surf Hut Crew. His favourite things about working with the surf school are meeting new people, being part of the surf community, and sharing the stoke with others. When he's not at the beach or studying, he's usually found playing guitar, training for surf competitions, or hanging out with friends.
Emily Peace: Assistant Surf Coach & Surf Hut CrewEmily is Donald's Daughter. She helps out with lessons and is also on the Surf Hut Crew. Her favourite thing about working with the surf school, is helping little kids catch waves. She has a passion for all things nature related! When she is not studying, you can usually find her traipsing through forests looking for mushrooms and mosses, taking photos, creating art, wild swimming or jumping in the sea for a surf.
Andy Jones: Surf CoachYou may recognise Andy from the old bike shop 'Bikes & Bowls' aka 'Cycle Circle' in Elgin. Andy retired from his bike shop, and came on 'board' to assist Donald with surf lessons. We're stoked to have Andy returning to New Wave each Summer to help share the stoke! Andy loves to spend his spare time surfing, biking, golfing or hanging out with his family.
Maisie Jones: Surf Hut CrewMaisie is Andy's Daughter. She has become an integral part of the surf school team by making sure that all used surf gear is cleaned, put away, and organised properly. Her favourite thing about working with the surf school is all the great people she gets to meet. In her spare time, Maisie loves playing drums, skateboarding, and spending time at the beach and in the sea.
Fraser Brown: Assistant Surf Coach & Surf Hut CrewFraser is an adopted member of the Peace family, and has become an integral part of the New Wave team. He is one of our Assistant Surf Coaches, and we're psyched to have him on board! Surfing is one of Fraser's favourite sports, and he has progressed competitively to place 2nd overall in the Scottish Junior Under 16 category. This has lead to him surfing for Scotland on the Junior Surfing Team twice, once in Portugal and once in Brazil. In his spare time, Fraser loves to surf the wedge in Lossie. He is now also falling in love with long boarding.
Kerry Peace: Admin & WellbeingKerry is Donald's Wife. She helps out with the admin for the surf school, and looks after hard working New Wave Staff. When she's not assisting with surf school duties, Kerry likes to take part in creative arts projects, spend time with her family, and she also loves to spend time in her veggie garden.
